Brown has raised over $1 million since the end of session in mid-April
Largo, MD – Today at a press conference in the Brown for Governor Headquarters, Lt. Governor Anthony Brown formally announced that 2012 Obama for America Campaign Manager Jim Messina has signed on to join his team as a senior advisor. At the event, Brown also reported that he has raised over $1 million since the end of session in mid-April. With a growing list of endorsements from elected officials and community leaders across the state, Anthony Brown’s campaign to become Maryland’s next governor has continued to build momentum.
“I met a lot of people traveling across America as President Obama’s campaign manager and I can tell you that Anthony Brown truly stands out as one of the best in this next generation of leaders,” said Jim Messina, 2012 Obama for America Campaign Manager and newly announced Senior Advisor to Anthony Brown. “Just like President Obama’s race, this is a historic election for the people of Maryland and Anthony Brown is the right leader to make Maryland better for more Marylanders.”
“As Democrats, we owe a great deal of gratitude to Jim Messina and his team for all that they did to reelect President Obama last year and I am humbled to have him as a part of my campaign to become Governor in 2014,” said Lt. Governor Anthony Brown. “Jim Messina and I both know that campaigns are won one door at a time and that’s why we are mobilizing the biggest grassroots campaign Maryland has ever seen. I know that by building a diverse coalition of supporters from every corner of our state, we’ll succeed in our campaign to make Maryland better for more Marylanders.”
“We worked hard to reelect President Obama in 2012 and we’re going to work just as hard to elect Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman in 2014,” said Congressman Elijah Cummings. “Jim Messina has proven his ability to win tough elections and I’m so excited that he’s decided to join us as a part of the Brown-Ulman team.”
As a senior advisor on the campaign, Messina will help on all aspects of the campaign including fundraising, volunteer organizing and media.
